I may not have a TV show where I can give the entire audience all my favorite finds for the holidays. But I can still clue you in on a few things that I love to give, eat, watch, wear, read and receive this time of year. Full disclosure: a few of these listings are from friends, clients and colleagues, but I am not making one red cent from anything below. Just passing along some of my faves and hoping you’ll love them as much as I do! Happy holidays!!
Consumer products strategist Carolyn Akel - aka Coco - has an online store full of fun, trendy items for you and your friends. My fave? The hot pink super-comfy Coobie Bra.
Soap Works Studio
Nothing’s better than handmade soaps and bath products made with the highest quality natural ingredients. Heidi at Soap Works in Seattle is always experimenting with wonderful fragrances like Citrus Basil, Clove Orange or Cranberry Harvest, perfect for the holidays.
I love that fellow former television executive Patty Triplett West followed her passion and started Good Karmal. Chosen as one of Oprah’s Favorites Things - and now Libby’s Favorite Things - this is the best handmade caramel you will ever eat. Cleverly packaged with Zen sayings, you will definitely get some good karma by sharing this treat with others.
I haven’t carried a briefcase for years, but I love a big tote bag that can hold my laptop, files, make-up and wallet for everyday and also when I’m traveling. Elizabeth Jeffer at roztayger.com has one of the most beautiful collections of bags (at a range of prices) for work, travel and holiday dressing up. Also great gifts for guys!
Better World Books
I found Better World Books when I was researching companies that Contribute (with a capital C!) for my new book Capture the Mindshare. Better World Books has saved more than 16 million books from landfills, recycles books to school and non-profits, and supports more than 80 global literacy organizations. For every book you buy, they also donate a book to someone. If you’re a book lover, you will love Better World Books! If you need ideas, just check out my reading list on Goodreads at:
Belly Rest Pregnancy Pillow
I was knocked out when I saw the pregnant homegirls rap video that Kerri Smith created to raise money to pay the “pillow tag” taxes before she could manufacture her great pregnancy pillow. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eA8ojlaHEyc, then buy the Belly Rest for any of your preggers pals!
I caught on to this upstairs-downstairs series belatedly, then watched an entire season in one marathon Netflix binge. How could you not love Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess of Grantham? If you have any Downton-less friends, do them a favor and buy the DVDs!
