Three Tips on Self-Forgiveness to Get You Unstuck and Moving Forward

This week is all about getting UNstuck in your mind so that you can move forward in your life.  There are simply some roadblocks we encounter (or create) that will stop us over and over in life.  Regret is one of those.  You may not think you’re filled with regret, but if you only ever get “just so far” when it comes to goals and dreams, I bet there’s a regret or two in your past to release.  Ask anyone in a 12-step program what letting go of regret can accomplish in one’s life. Here are three tasks to help you get started.

#1. Acknowledge the mistake.


#2. Make an Amends. If you’ve unintentionally hurt another person, apologize for your mistake, let the other person know that you didn’t mean to hurt them and that you’d like their forgiveness.

#3.  Stop beating yourself up. After all, if they can forgive you, why can’t you forgive you? And if they can’t, what does that tell you about your relationship? Either way, you have done what you can and that is meaningful.
