Are You Driving Potential Customers Away? By Branding Expert, Libby Gill

If you are failing to make an ongoing emotional connection with your customer, it’s almost certain that you’re driving existing customers – and potential customers – away, every single day. Make no mistake, it’s enormously important to connect with your customers emotionally – whether that’s through humor, warmth, or some companies even do it through fear.  After all, addressing the pain your audience is in, and reminding them why YOU and your company and products solve that pain, is a very valid connection to create and revisit often. But it can’t be the ONLY way you re-invigorate your audience.   Here’s a few tips to embrace your BRAND, so your audience will embrace YOU. Be sure that you’re always presenting YOUR content, but even more important, YOUR content in the context in which YOU frame it.  So it’s not just one more blog, or one more article – you have to have a point of view, a sense of humor, or even a contrarian nature – whatever is true of you.  Bring that authenticity to your audience over and over.  Believe me, people can spot phonies.  How many times have you been sucked in by a sales page where you  suspected it was a lot of hot air.  And guess what – after you got that product or attended that seminar, you discovered you were right.  Yes, you can still suck people in but it doesn’t last for the long haul.

And constantly consider the value you consistently bring others.  Personality, humor or scare tactics may suck you in once or twice, but value is the only thing that keeps you coming back.  Be sure to give what I call “Value x 10” – always try to provide 10x the value people are paying you for or expecting from your products (even if they’re free). And do give away free stuff!  Shower your clients with gifts, give more of your time, knowledge and heart than people are expecting. This is ALWAYS a winning way to invite your audience into your sphere and to create brand enthusiasts that recommend you over and over.
